Media Release (20 June 2018)
Te Omanga Hospice Building Fund benefits as Hutt Bowling Club remembers the passing of Les Taylor a dedicated Member and keen supporter of the Club’s Community Bowls Programme – Mates in Bowls.
Les was one of the Club’s keen Community Bowlers, playing a format of the game which, in dispensing with the more formal competitive aspects, has appeal to those wishing to enjoy a more casual experience at their own convenience.
The past Season saw a total of 124 people playing in at least one of the Mates in Bowls Tuesday evening events. This growth in numbers suggests that next season’s programme commencing late October will further enhance the Club’s community membership base. To this end registrations of interest may be made through the Mates in Bowls page on the Club Website.
The first of the annual Les Taylor Memorial Tournaments was held on Friday 27 April with close on 70 playing for a Memorial Cup, with proceeds of going to assist with the Te Omanga Hospice Building Fund. As a result a cheque for nearly $5,000 has been presented to Te Omanga.
